Description

A delightful apple tart made with buttery puff pastry and sweet apples.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 inches square puff pastry (partially thawed)
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 23 Pink Lady or Gala apples (I used Pink Lady)
  • 1 Tablespoon butter (unsalted) (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla bean paste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375℉.
  2. Place the baking tray into the oven.
  3. Cut apple into thin slices (you can peel them if you do not like the texture). Not too thin because they will fall apart.
  4. Unfold the puff pastry. Sprinkle the sugar over the piece of baking paper and place the puff pastry sheet on top of the sugar.
  5. Fold over the edges of the puff pastry, creating a ¼-inch border.
  6. Arrange the apple slices in three rows, overlapping them slightly (see the picture for reference).
  7. Whisk the butter with vanilla and maple syrup. Brush the apples with the prepared butter.
  8. Bake the apple tart for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the apple tart from the oven and cut into 6 slices. Serve.

Notes

  • Using Pink Lady apples adds a nice sweetness to the tart.
  • Make sure not to cut the apples too thin, or they will break apart.
