Description

A creamy and elegant Italian dessert for any occasion, topped with fresh berries and a sweet drizzle.


Ingredients

  • 1 envelope unflavored powdered gelatin
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Fresh mixed berries (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries)
  • Berry coulis or honey
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Lightly oil 6 (6-ounce) ramekins or dessert cups with a neutral oil.
  2. In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it blooms and becomes spongy.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture is steaming hot and the sugar has completely dissolved.
  4. Allow the panna cotta to cool slightly, then pour it into the prepared ramekins.
  5. Chill in the refrigerator until set, about 4 hours or overnight.
  6. To serve, gently run a knife around the edges of the ramekins and invert onto plates, or serve directly in the ramekins.
  7. Garnish with fresh berries, a drizzle of berry coulis or honey, and a sprig of mint.
