Description
A creamy and elegant Italian dessert for any occasion, topped with fresh berries and a sweet drizzle.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 envelope unflavored powdered gelatin
- 3 tablespoons cold water
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Fresh mixed berries (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries)
- Berry coulis or honey
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Lightly oil 6 (6-ounce) ramekins or dessert cups with a neutral oil.
- In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it blooms and becomes spongy.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture is steaming hot and the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Allow the panna cotta to cool slightly, then pour it into the prepared ramekins.
- Chill in the refrigerator until set, about 4 hours or overnight.
- To serve, gently run a knife around the edges of the ramekins and invert onto plates, or serve directly in the ramekins.
- Garnish with fresh berries, a drizzle of berry coulis or honey, and a sprig of mint.
Notes
- This dessert can be made a day in advance, making it perfect for entertaining.
- For a flavored version, try infusing the cream with lemon zest or coffee before serving.
