Description
A delicious Cajun seafood dish featuring salmon and shrimp, served in a rich garlic cream sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
- ½ lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter (for the sauce)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced (for the sauce)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon Cajun seasoning (for the sauce)
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 cups potatoes, peeled and cubed (for mashed potatoes)
- 3 tablespoons butter (for mashed potatoes)
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 cups fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1 tablespoon butter (for green beans)
- 1 clove garlic, minced (for green beans)
Instructions
- Prepare the mashed potatoes: Place the cubed potatoes in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15 minutes, or until fork-tender. Drain the potatoes and mash them with butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper. The texture should be smooth and creamy. Cover and keep warm.
- Cook the green beans: Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the green beans and sauté for 4–5 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Season the seafood: Pat the shrimp and salmon dry. Sprinkle Cajun seasoning evenly over both sides of the salmon and the shrimp.
- Cook the salmon: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down and cook for about 4–5 minutes. Flip and cook another 3–4 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Cook the shrimp: In the same skillet, add the shrimp and cook for about 2–3 minutes per side until pink and slightly caramelized. Remove from the skillet.
- Make the garlic cream sauce: Reduce the heat to medium-low and melt butter in the same skillet. Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds. Pour in the heavy cream and stir gently. Add Parmesan cheese, paprika, and Cajun seasoning. Simmer until the sauce thickens slightly and becomes silky.
- Bring everything together: Return the shrimp and salmon to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the seafood.
Notes
- For richer flavor, let the seafood marinate in Cajun seasoning for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Adjust the cream sauce consistency by adding more cream for a thinner sauce or cooking longer for a thicker sauce.
