Description

Delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies that are chewy and rich in flavor.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until fully incorporated. The batter will be thick.
  6. Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips, mixing gently to distribute evenly. If using nuts, fold those in now.
  7. Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop generous dollops of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each for spreading.
  8. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. The edges should look firm, while the centers appear slightly underbaked.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle a little sea salt on top before baking.
