Description
Delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies that are chewy and rich in flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: ½ cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until fully incorporated. The batter will be thick.
- Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips, mixing gently to distribute evenly. If using nuts, fold those in now.
- Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop generous dollops of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each for spreading.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. The edges should look firm, while the centers appear slightly underbaked.
- Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Store the cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
- For added flavor, you can sprinkle a little sea salt on top before baking.
