A delicious and comforting dish featuring a crispy baguette filled with cheesy eggs and topped with flavorful chili jam and dukkha.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf Baguette (Fresh, crusty baguette)
- 4 tablespoons Garlic butter (or herb-infused olive oil)
- 200 grams Cheese (any melting cheese like cheddar or mozzarella)
- 4 large Eggs (fresh eggs for best flavor)
- 4 tablespoons Chilli jam (or spicy relish)
- 2 tablespoons Dukkha (or toasted sesame seeds)
- 2 tablespoons Parsley (fresh herbs, chives or cilantro are alternatives)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (fan forced) and line a roasting pan with baking paper.
- Cut the baguette in half crossways, then hollow out sections to create space for the egg filling.
- Brush garlic butter generously inside each hollowed section and press cheese firmly into the hollows.
- Crack one egg into a separate bowl and pour it into each baguette section.
- Cover the pan with greased foil and bake for 25 minutes until egg whites are almost set.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until egg whites are fully cooked.
- Cut the baked baguette into pieces, top with chilli jam, sprinkle with dukkha, and fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier version, consider adding diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes.
- This dish is best served immediately while the baguette is still warm and the cheese is gooey.
