Description

A delicious and comforting dish featuring a crispy baguette filled with cheesy eggs and topped with flavorful chili jam and dukkha.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Baguette (Fresh, crusty baguette)
  • 4 tablespoons Garlic butter (or herb-infused olive oil)
  • 200 grams Cheese (any melting cheese like cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 4 large Eggs (fresh eggs for best flavor)
  • 4 tablespoons Chilli jam (or spicy relish)
  • 2 tablespoons Dukkha (or toasted sesame seeds)
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley (fresh herbs, chives or cilantro are alternatives)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (fan forced) and line a roasting pan with baking paper.
  2. Cut the baguette in half crossways, then hollow out sections to create space for the egg filling.
  3. Brush garlic butter generously inside each hollowed section and press cheese firmly into the hollows.
  4. Crack one egg into a separate bowl and pour it into each baguette section.
  5. Cover the pan with greased foil and bake for 25 minutes until egg whites are almost set.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until egg whites are fully cooked.
  7. Cut the baked baguette into pieces, top with chilli jam, sprinkle with dukkha, and fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, consider adding diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes.
  • This dish is best served immediately while the baguette is still warm and the cheese is gooey.
